Phobia Hypnotherapy Can Help Remove Your Phobias

While most people are curious about spiders with their spindly and hairy legs, there are those who find themselves unreasonably scared of arachnids. The sight of spiders, even the small ones common in trees, can trigger panic attacks in individuals with arachnophobia.  This can be debilitating particularly for someone who likes to work with animals in a zoo.  A zoo manager may have to run at the sight of a large spider hanging from a branch.  Imagine the surprise of the people around him!  This is downright embarrassing, isn’t it? It is unavoidable for the occasional spider to show itself in the zoo because there will always be plenty of trees in that area.

Other people too may find themselves unable to enjoy outdoor activities, like camping and hiking, for fear of encountering arachnids.  A couple will not be able to enjoy each other’s company in an outdoor trip if one of them has an unexplainable fear of seeing spiders.  This can even ruin the entire outing.

How Hypnotherapy Can Help

Hypnotherapy is useful in many areas, including that of curing people of their phobias.  A person with arachnophobia will have to undergo hypnotherapy treatments combined with neuro-linguistic programming.  NLP can help a person refocus his or her unconscious mind so that the anxiety associated with seeing spiders or other crawling and hairy insects will become manageable.  A hypnotherapist can help a person with arachnophobia to start seeing the little animals as what they are rather than create horrific images in their minds, resulting to panic.

Number of Treatments Needed

In order to overcome the problem, an arachnophobic person needs to undergo four to 10 sessions.  Some may be less while others could be more, depending on the person’s ability or openness to suggestion.  Children are easier to hypnotize because they are not yet cynical compared to adults.  The hypnotherapist will work with the patient teaching him or her how to change behaviors so that an encounter with a spider will not become as traumatic as it used to.  With enough training, a person with arachnophobia will be able to relax and even find it normal to touch spiders.

When to Begin Treatment

Well, it is always better to start treatment the earliest time possible.  The longer a person holds on to his or her phobia, the harder it is to let go.  The feeling of panic can become deeply ingrained in the mind that releasing its hold may be a little difficult.

If you believe that your fear of spiders is preventing you from living a truly, meaningful life, by all means consult with a hypnotherapist right now.
